How to control people’s minds
Posted by Andrew

Not exactly, but here’s a step in the right direction.
It has to do with perception and reality.
Thank you Professor Gagliardi at Baruch College for teaching me the difference between the two.
Everyone has a different perception of the world and the events happening around them. What someone may perceive as an insult, may be something completely innocent to someone else.
Where does the truth and reality lie?
It doesn’t matter; only the perceptions do.
Our entire lives are based upon how we view and perceive the world around us.
What one person perceives as sexy is a turn off to someone else; what another sees as greedy, someone else sees as good business, and the list goes on and on and on.
The trick, as someone trying to change/control minds and sell goods, services, or themselves (job interviews, not slaves)
is to change perceptions to something more favorable or positive.
How do you do that?
Start with the perceptions.
Perceptions are formed by the events and experiences within our lives. And as someone trying to change perceptions, it is important to know where our audience is coming from; where their background is; and how they might view the world.
That doesn’t mean you’ll always be able to match your content to the correct viewpoint. It just means that we should be constantly aware of our audience and always make decisions with them in mind.
“How will my audience perceive this?”

I think you are right on the mark. To me this post fits right in with marketing and understanding your market and how they perceive things. If you try to open up to a market that’s too broad, you can get into some really confusing territory.
Trying to include everyone in your marketing process can actually turn away the people who your service is meant for.
That’s what I got out of this post. Good job!

It’s kind of ironic actually.
Even my post on perception and reality can be perceived differently.
Nate, you’re right on with the message of targeted marketing. That’s the more actionable take on what I was thinking about.
From a theoretical standpoint, I was thinking about just how differently we perceive everything around us. Different views, messages, meanings, everything.
We are just different!

Thanks for the insite Andrew. Personally I think that contolling things like this is also based on how the person percieves you in the instance that you want to change an opinion on something. If they want profof or understanding that what you are saying is right, then it is great if you make them percieve you as someone they can relate to and they gain trust in this sense.
